Jojo, who has more technique than a freak show on steroids has the humility to understand this other side of very developed technique...single volume limb coordination applied to musical contexts.
I think Nerve is a waste of time for this man's talents...he needs to be in a cutting edge band...I wish he played out more and got the accolades he deserves. His instructional video was brilliant. Don't get me wrong...if his pulse is Nerve...great, but the guy is SO talented! These types of guys are gift to us all.
Welcome to the world of the studio player that JUST plays Ringo beats!I heard Steve Ferrone at a rehearsal playing on a pretty beat-up set and it sounded like a record. I figured out basically he has a built-in mixing board in his playing: he can change the volume of any individual limb without changing the feel. It's harder than you think, and after doing it for a while, I got a new appreciation for how much you can do with a simple beat.
