Just read the news and I'm wordless !
Joe was really an inspiration for me, very skilled drummer but above all, a great musician.
To this date, I never heard a drum solo as melodic as 1961 "Far More Drums".
RIP Mr Morello and thanks for the legacy.

Of that era, the great jazz players. Louie, Buddy, Tony, Chapin, Elvin, etc, etc he was the last. I can't think of any major players from that era that are still alive now.

Definitely dwindling, although I walked by the Vanguard last night and Paul Motian's group was playing.
Cobb still gigs around NY and internationally, too.
