I have the new Alesis VideoTrack. It's not HD but the audio quality is a step up. I have been looking for a no nonsense video recorder to allow me some feedback on my performances. I set it up on a mic stand fairly close to the kit and I can get a very good AV recording to pick apart later. It's a great learning tool.

Got it today!
Some test vids around the house look and sound very cool...looking forward to recording the New Year's Eve gig.
Now I need the accessory kit that no one seems to have yet....

those ari videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that last tune is insane. love the parts where he cues the band after the two tom hits. that's such original signature ari. or is it original?
this camera seems awesome. is it the best of its kind?

All of those look awesome. And man those Ari clips, I have never checked him out before!
The Alesis VideoTrack seems to be the best value for money...its only US$149 over here compared to US$299 for the Q3 HD and that's a whole load of dosh cheaper! Personally I wouldn't be too fussed about watching myself in HD, as long as it sounds good.

I have one of these. I also had the Alesis unit. I took back the Alesis unit as soon as I tried the Zoom Q3HD. No comparison hands down. Audio. Video. User friendly. The menus. The construction. Everything. Its an amazing little gadget. And you can edit in the Camera if you wanted instead of editing on the computer. I highly recommend the Zoom Q3HD.

I bought an Edirol R09 HR for audio and use a Kodak z18 for video.. Both of these together give me better video and audio than a Q3hd. They also came in a bit cheaper.. l Like that I can put the camera in a good place and the recorder somewhere else if there's better sound elsewhere... Only thing is you need to line up the audio with the video later..
The audio from this was with the roland unit, The camera was a panasonic,tm700... A far better camera than a kodak z18, but the kodak is a better camcorder than the Q3HD...
