Kudos to Henderson for being honest.
I love Kirk.

Wow…that's like the best 'drum lesson' I've heard in a while. Tough love but very true and very well put.

But that post is also about Kirk being himself and staying true to himself. It's always a question whether to adapt or
stay original and true to yourself. Or finding that balance of the two, rather.

Sure, but some interesting point : why Kirk doesn't hire a drummer "like him" with his band ? Why his drumming has not the same musical direction in live compare to studio ?

When I started to play jazz I remember asking Sean Bergin what he wantend from a drummer. He said: " don't chase my accents, don't put me in prison." Overplay in the truly bad way. Amazing to hear these issues from these musicians. They are like my hero's.

I'm wondering how Scott will feel about Gergo B over time. Every video I see of him with Willis or Scott he is overplaying. As a drummer it's entertaining but we'll see how long his Tribal Tech tenure lasts.

Gergo is way too calculated for my taste when thinking about TT. Kirk is one of the main reasons why that band clicked for me, that kind of abandon on drums really gets to me in that specific fusion frame.

This is all good news for me. I don't know how Gergo will work out, but I never enjoyed anything Kirk did. For that matter, I grew weary of Scott's Zawinulisms too. As a result, I wrote off Tribal Tech years ago. This new lineup will definitely warrant a new listen from me.
Speaking of Zawinul clones, Steve Weingart was just as guilty when I first started hearing him many years ago. He's since found his own voice.

I think Gergo will be just perfect, and Willis wants him so it should work fine, more than that I would say.
And I think that they both (Gergo and Gary) live in Barceona/Spain.
