Love GMS! When I was looking to buy a kit a few years ago I was holding out for a gms. I impulsively bought a yammie mcan instead. mistake.

I'm curious to check out those drums. Looks like Stanton Moore is playing them on the current Galactic tour too.

The Brooklyn series sound and look great - love the wraps! Only thing I don't like are the depths of the bass drums - 18x16? 20x18? 22x18? That's all that's offered. I know they're keeping the cost down by limiting sizes, but these are marketed as vintage drums - yet they have modern sizes? Confused series...

Checked out Keith's clinic a couple nights ago at Bentley's Drum Shop in Fresno. His Brooklyn kit sounded fantastic - very warm and round tone. Apparently, he's added a couple LP items to his setup, too - a micro-snare and cowbell. He also had a big 'ol 14x8 Gretsch snare to the left of his hats - the heads were tuned extremely loose and the snares were way past the point of being choked. I closed my eyes and it sounded just like a old gated studio snare you'd expect to hear on 70's recordings. Very cool, and something I'm gonna have to "borrow".

The sheer power with which Keith plays was something I was not expecting. As per usual, he was extremely dynamic ... but it's hard to get perspective on how much volume/tone his technique allows him to pull from the kit by his youtube clips alone. He had issues with his high hat falling toward him early on (which he handled like a pro). But, it sounded like he took out his frustration on the rest of his kit. Absolutely thunderous playing. Monster player.

Awesome! I'm going to see him at the end of the month in Tampa and was hoping he was going to be playing the Brooklyn series... I can't wait!

Maybe it's my ears, but he talks about how "open" the Gretsch Brooklyn sound is, but the PHX series he was playing sounded so much more open that these sound boxy in comparison. To me anyway.
