Ludwig is the only U.S. drum company making their own shells aside from Drum Workshop. Ludwig offers a TON of options too, as far as dimensions and shell types. No die-cast hoops for toms yet though.... YET...

C&C now uses their own shells (Gladstone).

From the Ludwig FB Post/announcement:

"Just to chime in, he's playing a Legacy Exotic kit here, but has kits in both the Legacy and Classic Maple Shell in new Black Galaxy Sparkle Finish. His set up consists of 14x22" Bass Drum w/double tom mount, 7x10 & 8x12 toms w/Keystone mounts (no Vibrabands,) 14x14 and 16x16 floor toms w/Keystone mounts. All Atlas Pro Hardware."

I think those drums look absolutely great, looking forward to see and hear him play them.....the room he is in, forgive me if im wrong, looks like his cartage company Drum Paradise, in North Hollywood.

Cool that he's using a 14" deep BD. I prefer the traditional depth as well.

I'm a believer as well!! Soooooo funky..

The only risk with a 14" deep bass drum is that it makes it tricky to get the bass drum mount installed far enough from the batter side.

tru but i think we have the technology... curious how drum manufacturers plan on addressing this. if anyone can lead the way it would prolly be DW. those guys obsess over everything.

That's the problem. Most companies over-engineer everything when a simple solution would suffice. It's why we all ended up with monstrous "suspension" mounting systems in the first place. 14" is plenty deep enough. I think I'd opt for 15" if it were an option.

Love the 14" depth as well, especially on a 24 . . . a la Tony.
