Ohh, you lucky lucky guys!! I've only seen Vinnie once in a small club setting (w/Karizma), and that was scary indeed. Glad to hear you guys had a great time.

Great to meet you Issac! And always great to see Steve, T-Bo, and James. I actually got a little video of the first tune, until I got SHUT DOWN! I'll try to post on YouTube.
Like Steve said, Vinnie just owned the place. The confidence, command, and presence is just unmistakable. SOOO powerful!

Earlier in the day I was moving from Woodland Hills to North Hollywood. As showtime approached, I could not finish cleaning up and thought I might miss the show all together . . . Boy am I glad I made it, albeit about 50 minutes late. My friend made reservations early and was given an AMAZING table. I was directly in front of the bass drum and there was only 1 table between me and the kit. When I arrived I heard Oscar Seaton pay 2 tunes. I enjoyed his playing and in particular I thought the presence of his snare was great . . . but I was only 15 feet away & directly in front of him.
But then, the magic happened. Vinnie came out and just absolutely owned the night for me. His effortless nature is awe-inspiring. What more can I say? This was my first non-rock show in LA and I am soooo glad that I made it. I have seen Vinnie once before with Beck at HOB in Florida, but being so close to effortless mastery was truly a great experience that I could have never had in Florida where I lived for the past 20 years.
Additionaly, I am a HUGELY picky person when it comes to my enjoyment of music with a propensity for 'wank.' One of the first things to turn me off is guitar tone and overbearing guitar players. I was extremely satisfied by the guitar players approach and tone. Very tasty playing and they demonstrated a great sense of appropriate rhythmic comping as well. The guitar players were a pleasant surprise for me!
Maybe next time I will get a chance to meet some other HODers. I
