Hey Guys,
This is kind of an old thread - so my apologies for resurrecting it... perhaps this would be better in a new one - let me know the etiquette!
I've read over all the posts, and there isn't any significant mention of a great metronome for Live Gigs. I'm looking for something that:
- is easy to program 30-40 tempos in to
- is fool proof to skip to the next/previous song
- has different sounds to suit different players
- stores time signatures and subdivisions in presets
Is this too much to ask of a hardware metronome? Is there an app for that? (ideally both android and iPhone - I never know what a player's got phone-wise!)
I hope you guys have some wisdom on this one!
Cheers,
Mike

I use backbeat pro on iphone. I used tempo / tempo 2 before. but backbeat pro is the real deal.
It`s easy , it has different sounds for counting ( even human voice ). It`s easy to set odd time signatures. It has volume contrl for every subdivisions. And you have panel where you can setup polyrhtyms. You can set it up for incresing/decreasing tempo at a certain number of bars , so it`s a great way to workout.
you can save your song tempo for live situations. ( many more ) check it out ...
It`s perfect for me on studio for practise and on stage during a performance.
Highly recommended !!!
Take care y`all

I use a craptop with Reason 4.0, otherwise I have a Dr. Beat I break out sometimes, and if I'm not around those, I have a metronome on my phone that's good enough.
honestly, I'm not a big fan of marking the time signature. I think it's more helpful to learn to count it out over a constant subdivision, as no one will be yelling "one" at you every measure on a gig.

I use TEMPO from frozenape.
And thanks for that tip Fun-k, about BACKBEAT PRO. It seems great:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/backbeat ... 29485?mt=8
Has it got the light beat indicator ?

Rodge, in the main page (under the word METER) hold your finger 2 seconds over any tempo signature and it will display all the signatures available.
You will see some 7/8 combinations.
