I saw Vinnie give a clinic at Creative Music in April of '89 in front of a small room of people with their jaws on the floor. I sat right next to his HH and the SD he had on his left (one of the new Zildjian snares, the deep one, which didn't sound very good), shaking my head and laughing as Vinnie displayed his "disappointing airplane chops" (his words, NOT my opinion.) It was like sitting next to Einstein in his laboratory. It was a just absolutely mind blowing afternoon. We have talked about it a few times since, I think we may have even talked about it in our PAS interview in 2009, I forget.

Seeing that clinic, sitting right next to his drums (behind Jeff's Marshalls) for a Jeff Beck show, The Chick week at the Blue Note, the Weather Report week with Jason Miles, the Patittucci gig at SOB's.... GREAT MEMORIES, GREAT MUSIC, Other Worldly Drumming! Thanks Vinnie!

BTW, has anyone here heard the new Zappa box from Halloween '78. It's absolutely BURNING!!!!
