In the mean time, several major websites are planning a "blackout" to protest both of these bills.
they will only blackout for a day or so. that's some protest huh. doesn't look like the SOPA bill will pass but PIPA it's little sister will. it's just as evil. they are tweaking the bill as we discuss.

You don't think a 24 hour blackout of Google will send a message?

Uh, no. I never said that. I'm relatively confident without any further evidence that CBS -- and any other megamedia corp -- has thrown millions behind this legislation. That's understood. Any major corporation losing money to piracy is going to be for ANY bill that solves their problem, even if it creates problems for other people. Including the (allegedly) free masses.
What I am saying is there no need to put together conspiracy theories to (a) point out who's sponsoring the legislation, (b) who's against it, (c) why others should be against it.

Once again, the "conspiracy theory" pejorative, designed to poinson the debate without having to debate. What "theory" are you referring to? A conspiracy is a plan between two or more people to commit a crime or a tort. A theory is a supposition not, yet, usupported by evidence. Neither of those two words has any application to this discussion. Perhaps if bribing your representative or Senator were a crime in America, you would, in theory, have a point, but, not the one you were trying to make.

The latest headcount shows that supporters of PIPA far outnumber opponents, with even more still undecided:
http://www.savetheinternet.com/pipa-whiplistYou know something is rotten when "Diaper" David Vitter and Dianne Feinstein are on the same side of an issue!

51 votes to kill the bill outright or republicans can filibuster with 40 if they want.
From the looks of it, PIPA is dead as well.
