The record company had nothing to do with the change, or the electronic drums. That was all Terry. Regardless, there are great tunes on that record too. Spring Session M was actually their second record.

That Missing Persons era reminds of one of my favorite Howard Jones tunes:

This song, Mental Hopscotch was a pretty "special groove"

One bar, you know the song, this was on the radio all the time in the 70s/80s. Great riff too!

I think Gavin Harrison once mentioned Japan drummer Steve Jansen as someone he likes, with some unique ideas.

I copied Juan's idea and created my own loop of a famous drum intro fill that in itself could be a groove. You'll easily guess it.

Steve Jansen is an amazing composer. He plays some great stuff.
This is a trademark Mickey Curry heavy slammin groove. Wide and powerful, fills right there.

Back in the day as a kid, I thought this was the most amazing double bass drummer ever!
Les Binks was TIGHT! I would stare at this LP cover in Spanish class until British Steel
came out. Best LP covers ever! Those two LP's consumed me. Meanwhile, in a studio
around this same time a young Vinnie Colaiuta was recording Joe's Garage. I would miss
the Vinnie train until I saw Dog Cheese at the Spud one night years later.

I was into Judas Priest for a minute back in the late 70s too. I actually ended up working on a record that was produced by Tom Allom in the late 80s. Tom produced a bunch of Judas Priest records and had some great stories.
