In the end, that says it all.

Congrats!

My wife, also a non-musician, said essentially the same thing. Prime example of tasty, musical soloing IMO.

Enjoyed Gavin's performance. Like Tony's also. Took a few scones to realize that the band was playing the music to Gavin's performance. He plays to tracks at his clinics. Band was cool also. Nice to see Gavin play a long solo. Always tasty playing. Liked the tune Tony played to. He needs to stop the speed up the solo as it evolves. Old hat yes.

I kinda liked Tony's performance, and I'm not usually a fan of that sound, or such 'muscular' drummers...

I will say this for all the negativity about it, check out Dave's reaction when Tony is done. This is the purpose of this whole idea, to get non-drummers to say "WOW". I've not seen him give that reaction to any of the previous 'drum week' drummers...

Also, lovely Gavin!

It's interesting because Dave was clearly more enthusiastic about Tony's solo than Gavin's, and while Tony is fantastic, we here can all pretty much agree that the musical depth of Gavin's solo surpassed Tony's by a long way.

I think this has to do with the fact that the masses have come to expect the flashy, easy, instant gratification "product", and have difficulty appreciating a more subtle, delicate, profound and significant form of art.

Wouldn't you agree ;)

It's all a matter of perspective...I took it as Dave was more affected (speechless) by Gavin's performance...

Way to go Gavin! It was as great as I expected it to be...I liked it when you looked over at the band and smiled as well...

Gavin, that was brilliant! I mean, damn! That's a lot of pressure...

Great playing, and very musical, even given the "shits and giggles" context of drum solos. Think about it mate, did you ever think you'd be on the Letterman show just for the purpose of playing a solo?! Did you get to hang at all and talk shop with Anton? I'd love to hear you play some more with Will Lee... shit, yourself, Will Lee and Oz Noy would be a killer trio!

Cheers!
