Thanks! Not to ignore the feeback on the jazz - vid: Thanks Juan - appreciated. Rudy - I'll keep double bass in mind for future vids.

For the Greb vid: Thanks a lot Joe! I was going to record the solo in a different take but just ended up plowing through the whole tune.

Jem: Thanks. I watched Austin Burcham's vids on drum mixing for starters, then a few others on general mixing and mastering as well. The mics are of the cheap variety - AKG "Groove pack" for OHDS, kick and toms. SM57 for snr and a cheap condenser for the HH. I have a pretty particular sound I'm going for that's kind of big and in your face. Lots of EQ and compression to get that. I try and not have the drums sound too isolated - I want the OHDS present and the individual tracks layered underneath.

Keeping the content coming! I noticed in the Benny video I lean a lot of phrases using groups of five sixteenths. So, I made a lesson on that concept:

0:00 Intro and explanation
1:51 Constructing a basic 1 bar phrase
2:27 Using the 2-3 groupings
3:38 How to internalize a phrase
4:37 Experiment with different orchestrations
5:26 Cool 1 bar flam phrase!
7:17 Another cool one bar flam phrase!
8:03 Two bar phrase example
9:19 Internalizing two bar phases
10:02 Speaking the language vs memorizing some sentences
11:01 Cool two bar flam phrase!
12:20 Another cool two bar flam phrase!
13:03 Easily spicing up a basic phrase
14:11 Displace a basic phrase to all 4 sixteenths!
16:01 Vinnie Colaiuta style flam groove using fives
17:01 Tool: "The Grudge" rhythm
19:22 Outro and playout

I watch a lot of Youtube and I can easily say that Steve is killing it, videos are informative and the lesson itself feels natural.

Such a great lesson, thanks Steve for the awesome content.

Haven't made too much content this year - here's a new one on a fun lick Derek showed me! Apologies for the corny title screen - just trying different things to see what pops on YouTube.
Bonus Weckl lick at 4:10!

Once again Steve, great communication. You take a phrase, demo
in various speeds, break it down...then repeat (it is here most move
on) but the repetition has similar impact like Letterman doing a bit
in minute 15 of his show, and at minute 40 throws in the same bit
in a different context...this jogs the mind to a forgotten joke and
then it takes a new life form (actually enhances memory). It is a
hard to master teaching technique which is why so few use it.
You have done this before--your doubles video series for instance
and others. You also gave a good teaching pace (tempo) and
avoid distracting chatter/intros.
