This swings so hard...

Had this album on heavy rotation lately (J.C Heard on drums). So good.

Who's the drummer...? man did he keep that 1/4 note pulse on the hats going.
That has to make Steve smile...keep them hats pulsing.

Good news my sister's place was spared in Santa Monica...grateful.
SO very sad to hear those who lost their homes...didn't Simon Phillips
lose his place last major fire? UGH

Joel Taylor lost his home and home studio :(
I had to evacuate but returned safe that evening.
Super strong winds still this week. It could all start again.
This is no way to live.

Stay safe, Steve - and everyone else in those areas. The images coming out of L.A. are unbelievable and scary.

I miss Ed. What a deep swing groove. I used to see him all the time when I worked at Percussion Center Copenhagen.

I Love when a drummer I'm not familiar with just blows me away. Everyone else hip to Andy Gander? This guy's a mad scientist who's taken advanced rhythm concepts to the highest utmost scientific level. It's bananas. If you don't want to continue watching - skip ahead instead of turning it off. There's literally an academic paper here on grooves using odd groupings.

That Gander dude has really gone super deep into it all. Reminded me of what Matt Garstka played in this PASIC video.
