I'd like to introduce my new drumset. I live in Lyon (France) and I just bought in Italy this brand new Tamburo Opera Calssic Plus. It has been made in February 2009 TH and its serial number is 8816. (San Omelo

Main Features :

• Multilayer staves design shells

• Shell made with combination of selected North American Maple and Birch of Finland 7-ply / 7,5mm

• Epoxy resin bearing edge (for the chainfreins)

• Die-cast hoops

• Equipped with EVANS drumheads

• New design "T-lug" lugs.

Reso Heads : Remo Diplomat Clear

Bass drum : Evans EMAD and Evans G3 Reso.

S Hoops 100% equiped

Batter Head : Ambassador X Coated

Reso Head : Evans Hazy 300


About Epoxy Chainfrein :

This new feature is the stave reinforcement ring made of 2-ply evaporated beech wood which makes the shell more rigid, while the cast epoxy bearing edge allows for perfect seating of the head. All metal components are new: lugs, claw hooks and tom arms.

How it sounds :

This is a terrific drum trust me !

I'll get some MP3 samples asap. The tons are warmed and focused (thanks to the epoxy chainfrein), the mix between US hand selected Maple and Birch of Finland provides a very well balanced sound. I love it !

Hello everybody,

Let me introduce my project : I wanted to make a yellow copper custom snare with a little bet : spending less than $200 for that awesome snare.

PS : sorry for my poor English, I'm a French guy

What you need :

- A yellow Copper Die Cast Shell @ 1.2mm : 14*5.5 ($85)
- Dunnett Strainer ($40)
- 10X classic tubelugs ($50)
- A pair of Die Cast hoops (Free from hold snare)
- Carbon Snarewire ($9)
- Remo Ambassador X Coated batter head ($11)
- Aquarian reso bottom head (free from hold snare)

TOTAL : $195

I wanted a typical warm snare sound with beautiful rimshots. The sound is really focused and has a great balanced bass. The Ambassador X is a 12 Myl head and helps a lot to get that warm sound I was looking for. In fact,,a yellow copper snare is a brass one check here :

i was thinking the same thing about the bearing edge. I'm sure it works great for giving you a nice edge, but what it also does is kill the tone of the drum.

Gorgeous! I've always liked the weird stave look of Tamburo drums.
Be careful with the Fame ball system snare drum stand, though. I've seen one of those with the ball broken into pieces, so it's not exactly heavy-duty. It works just fine but I wouldn't put it under hard touring conditions

its just my opinion, but a plastic edge wouldn't transfer the vibrations/resonations very well. I would guess that it effectively muffles the tone. Wood resonates better than plastic. Perhaps I'm being a bit of a purist.

About Epoxy bearing Edge : this concept is amazing and helps for a very easy tuning.
A friend of mine has a DW Collector set and he came to try my Opera set.... he was just in love and told me that my set outranked the DW one.

For my custom snare > it's just a fantastic snare since I compared it with a Art Custom one ($700) and it sounds better ! I'm really happy with it so.
