It's probably Mike himself opening up new accounts just so he can post that crap. I really find it hard to believe that ANYONE would post something like that, no matter how big a fan of Mike they were.

Great Vid Steve...
I've had comment's from NGvilava and from thelinedrummer..
Both have no videos and there attacks and wordage are eerily the same as Mike Johnston's in the big blushsda brew haha here awhile ago..
Best thing to do is ignore him, and say I don't like Mike Johsnton. not because of his playing or ability.. But because of the people that represent him online. When ever some mentions his name.. that's what I say.. And I have the online conversations to support my findings.. As do many here I imagine...
It's odd,... I think they do it intentionally to get others to go to his site.. He probably pays them..
Which is cool.. I like cool things..and finding out about new drummers ect.
But I think it's also to discourage someone from putting stuff out there as well.. Which is not cool,..
Not to mention to bash you Steve is F&^cking retarded..
You'd think that Johnston's actual students could appreciate your material... I wonder what they are learning?...
Not online cander or respect for great players..
F*&cking self serving Maggots...
I guess I need lessons in Cander as well..

Great lesson Steve!
The way you talk about what you're doing and the playing itself, both are crystal clear and fantastic. How you produce your 'budget' vids is so strong because you make the viewer feel at perfect ease, like meeting a friend. Nothing distracts from the subject/learning material. By presenting the material like you do, you make people shed because your message sounds like "hey, nothing too fancy, you can do it".
About the trolling, I'm also afraid it could be the man himself. He certainly proved to be a freak on this forum.

The only thing about the vid that I didn´t enjoy that much is the camera angle (and the fact that´s hand held). A tripod would be a better choice imo.

Re: New HoD Video Lesson: Drum Set Drags
I find a huge difference in the skill set required to execute Steve's lessons vs Mike's lessons. First off, I find Mike's lessons to be helpful, but distracting. It's all about the production. His lessons are about mostly licks, which in itself is ok. He can show me a cool sounding lick which I can get up and running in a matter of minutes, or 8 hours(hahaha). Steve on the other hand trims the fat and gets to not only the heart of the matter quickly but teaches the concept behind the lick. This latest drag vid will take me sometime to execute correctly, but will help me in other areas where non-accented notes are doubled on the snare. I have found this to not only be a very popular concept in Steve's playing, but a useful one too. Also, having watched both persons videos a few times, I have found that Mike wants to get in good with the gospel chops audience. I see the vids he posts with his pals who are MONSTER players. They talk about being well rounded players, yet they seem to drop the same (yet astonsihing) licks into whatever it is they are playing. While I'm sure there are a few crossovers from both camps, the HoD crew seem to really exhibit the drive for well roundedness and appropriate choices in their playing.
I guess to sum it up, I learn licks from Mike's videos and I learn concepts from Steve's.
