RIP to the inventor of Washington DC's Gogo music and scene leader since the 1970s, Chuck Brown.

Bustin' Loose was a #1 hit record on the R&B charts in 79. It was sampled on Nelly's "It's Getting Hot In Here."



Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers are also responsible for one of the most famous and heavily sampled drum breaks of all time @3:37 :



The DC Gogo scene is not mirrored in any other place. It is wholly a creation of Chuck Brown. Here is Chuck Brown putting food on his table in 2001. His take on Jazz and Blues standards are pretty epic. His take on Hoochi Coochie man starts at 2:26. Before that it's gogo crankin'.
