At the risk of being a little vulnerable here, I had one of the most powerful
flashbacks in time yesterday related to music, specially the music of Journey.
Got into a Journey thing on Youtube...just went from one vid to the next,
the documentary stuff, all of it. Then something hit me...my first girlfriend.
I decided to Google her...ran into a wall. Kept at it and found her Facebook
page.
WOW!!!
Words cannot describe the jolt I got seeing her for the first time since 1983.
She was a cheerleader in HS...cute as a button...and LOVED Journey...this was
the ultimate Steve Perry fan and the impact that guy had on females. She was
gaga.
Yesterday was like a walking dream, back to 1981 when we first met at the beach.
I found more pics of her on FB...crazy memory burn thing happening.
I really do not have words to express this moment...
She's married w/two boys in HS now, lives around the corner where we met, teaches
school. With sunglasses on, looked almost the same add a few pounds.
Music is powerful, especially the pop stuff for me. To see Journey and the basic line-up
still together is weird to me now. These were the same guys on that album cover
piped on the radio daily. They were not real back then...they were from some other planet
as rock gods far removed from daily life and the normal people.
The respect I have for them to keep going blows me away...touched so many lives over
the years...especially during those formative times back in HS...first car, first kiss, first love...
OK...I'm done...dang...sadly, I still miss her!

Music and Smells they say. Nothing wrong with a little walk down memory lane!
