HEI GUYz. Jason Burns from upstate New York. Just wanted to say that I admire all the players on here and constantly draw inspiration for Holmes to Hipskind and everyone in between. So, here's a little low light video of me with my Zoom q3. Any comments are appreciated!

Share some video playing along to some music, or some playing that maintains some sort of pulse/motif. If you want to solo, experiment with playing off of a short rhythmic phrase, interspersed with all of your other ideas. With more repetition, you give the listener "hooks" to latch onto. Otherwise, it's difficult to maintain interest or focus, especially for five minutes. Adding another camera will spice it up too.

Just some suggestions. But keep it up!

Thanks! Yeah this video was mainly to showcase my technique, especially my hands; which are not fast but can really control the sticks. Ive been working on the control for years and finally im getting to a place where im happy with that aspect. Now, on to the pork chops!

I agree. The most important thing for me is time. Technique is always second.

Yeah, you have great control over the sticks. You only dropped them twice in 5 minutes.

The doubles sound REALLY uneven. Your left hand is particularly heavy. The difference between the 1st and 2nd notes of your doubles is dramatically noticeable.

I would suggest working on accenting the 2nd note of the double, that should help correct that issue. Lots of 3's too! Also you may want to find the WEckl vid on youtube where he talks about the wrist snap (particularly for Trad grip) to beef up the 2nd note.

Yeah im a work in progress. Thanks ereybody! Yeah i think next time i might try to modulate to a click. The least amount of effort with the maxium response is what i was going for. That's what im always going for. In all fairness bstocky, it was only once and i knew when to quit!
@Jim I agree but Ive been obsessed with technique for awhile now.
@Josiah Yeah thanks! I hardly used stroked out doubles on the sets at all but need to expand on that.
@Steve yeah im really into the joy/spiritual aspect of drumming and feel like it overshadows all other aspects for me.
