It seems that you started out as being obviously excited about this-- look at the title of the post! Now, it is "all that you have going on at the moment" and you are gong to "make the best of it". It sounds like perhaps the board has taken the wind out of your sails in regards to this gig-- I can very much see how that would happen. But, I think that you have a lot to be happy with in terms of your playing here and the gig in general. Take that and run with it.

Gigs come and go, but your enthusiasm and willingness to take risks and put yourself out there playing-wise and critique-wise is more valuable than any advise that anyone on here can offer. Don't let that get extinguished, and don't trade positive attitude in for something as trivial as us telling you whether you should have played quarters on the chorus, or opened the hi hat a little more. I'm not saying that you are doing that, but just a reminder

As far as I am concerned in terms of long term success: Attitude >> Chops, any day.

For the moment:
- See if it can be re-mixed (guitars and voice are very loud in the mix)
- See if the timing issues can be edited.
(Those two things can make a great difference)

For the future:
- We have to criticize our performance, in the good way, but with a "high" standard.
- You must identify, with that sample you posted, every little timing issue of the drums. There are a few, and you must identify them, so you can see the points to improve: fills, bass/snare timing, whatever...

About the drum arrangements: I liked you options, and I loved the snare rolls...
And I like the tune, and the singer.

I think it's fair to say that I did let this one bust my balls a bit more than usual- I think the recent gear theft has left me a little sour and the what not.

But up and onward, friends! I'll continue to post just as I always do. I think remixing, er- mixing, the track will help significantly. Stand by!
