That Mike Johnson ride cymbal sounds pretty good. I like a little more meat (thicker cymbal) than that but would use it. So many cymbals these days. lots of variety. it's like the food at the grocery store. 25 different brands of Italian dressing. 50 different tuna fish brands. no more one size fits all. you have to carry lots of cymbals into a session... or not. I like zach danziger's ride cymbals he showcased in a thread. They sound great. love the small sizes. Would love to hear those.

I think it sounds nice. But it's sound is best for playing drums by themselves. I'm not sure how it would mix in music. It seems it needs more oomph to project. But it is pleasing to the ear, similar to the Zildjian K Special Dry ride, but less low end and a bit more on top.

I'm quite worried about the new Vinnie stick, since the old model is my stick of choice for pretty much everything. I love that stick and with my Pustjens and Gauger collections for special occasions, don't need anything else. I use the Vinnie stick in the orchestra as well. Why not? Vinnie stick and Longo walnut snare kicked the orchestra's Majestic snare's ass. Just amazing in a big open room.

My sticks luckily last a long time and I still have a bunch of them. I'll try the New one, but I have a feeling I'll be looking for someone to make me replicas of the old ones. They were slightly uneven, but I just loved the general feel and tone of the Wood. When play a regular 5A or 5B, which is what I use for work and give to my students when they start, it just feels too dense for me. Weird I guess, since most people are the opposite it seems, but that's how I feel.

Even I can hardly see the difference between the Vinnie stick and a regular American Classic 5B, but it feels totally different. Weird finish and those extra few grams at the front end make all the difference.

I love Sonor to bits but they should get themselves a salesman with better English, or a fluently speaking German guy if they want to keep their native flavor.
