Brian Eisenberg - LIFE CHANGES
I'm sure most of you have purchased and listened to this record by now.
I received mine and like most all records the past 20 years, it's FLAT,
DRY, and Vinnie is in the background.
Not his fault....that's production lately.
As I always do, I remaster most all the CDs I buy, including the ones w/ VC.
The remaster makes Vinnie's drums CRISP, OUT FRONT, BRUSH WORK IS VERY AUIBLE,
CYMBALS AND SNARE ARE VERY AUDILBE AND OUT FRONT LIKE A LIVE CONCERT WOULD BE.
Records should be a duplicate of what you would hear if you were in the studio listening to
the whole ensemble, without separate rooms or baffles....think Baked Potato.
Remastering also brings the bass drum out much better.
Bottom line---Once you remaster the recordings you love, you will not go back to hear
the original....leave that on your shelf and the remastered version in your car.

Maybe you like to hear thins certain way?
Remastered usually means doing a new master, not applying eqs to a mastered album...
Which system do you have? Room acoustics, DAC and speakers makes a big difference.

Re: VINNIE - The thread about Colaiuta
I am just trying to offer some friendly advice. No harm intended, no need to be offended. I'm using a simple program ACL audio cleaning lab. Okay if you prefer EQ instead of remaster, fine. That's all it is. I've played the original discs the past 20 years on many many speaker systems and I can unequivocally say that most recordings are flat where the drums are concerned. I really don't think it's my hearing or loss of any high-end. I've already had my hearing checked from an audiologist and I'm cool.
