Don't get me wrong. I love that version too. That record , Discipline, is a classic. Every tune is a masterpiece. I saw that tour live at the Concert Hall (old Masonic Temple). Ground breaking in so many ways.beat hit wrote:Interesting... I felt the exact opposite, I much prefer Belew's "narrating" approach.Paul Marangoni wrote:I love how he's singing ^ that song now, vs. the approach that Belew took on the original recording, when he was basically "talking", rather than singing. Bravo!

NP, I get it... "Discipline" corresponds to my favorite Crimson era. Bruford's mixed set-up of Simmons pads, octobans & rototoms was quite unique back then. Talk about thinking outside the box! I dig Belew's vocals, his guitar sound on Elephant Talk is brillant.. What about Tony Levin' Stick bass lines? He's a genius!!

Great Porcaro track. Whole album is good.

Here is a vid from a gig I played recently. The band is slowly coming together...we play some of the Dead's crazier tunes, which I appreciate. There too many notes flowing around most times. I prefer playing Pink Floyd lol.

Neal Schon is apparently taking this band on the road this year, playing Journey deep cuts.
