Really appreciate what you do Steve and team to continue to provide such a great resource. Steve your YT dashboard page is also a wonderful resource and full of great stuff. While I know it's your passion, it still takes a lot of work to provide these things and you don't get thanked enough.

Thanks BJ.
The forum would still be down for a while if I didn't use AI to tell me how to fix it. It was pretty cool honestly.

Richie Gajete Garcia had an open counseling for an hour once a week at Musicians Institute. a day in 1993 or 1994 i went to his open counseling and no one else was in the room so i had a one on one. I learned really fast how to play a conga drum! I had some concept but no idea how to strike and play a conga drum with my hands. He took my hand by the wrist and said go limp or relax. A few minutes later I had the pop sound going. Great teacher! I miss those days. Love Latin music. Would love to be in a Latin band were one could go from drum set to timbales, congas and down the line of hitting things during a gig.

Thanks Julian!

For those that don't know - Kurtis and I were at Musicians Institute together in 93-94. We were roommates for a bit! It was a special time listening to our heroes and geeking out back then. The informal Open Counseling some teachers did was super cool. Especially Gary Garbitini, Joel Taylor and Toss Panos! Those were the guys. Joel still works his ass off playing everywhere with everyone. Toss posts stuff on IG once in a while. I saw him at the BP about a year ago - it was great.

So what Toss does ?
He used to do all the gigs Keith is doing now.
But I guess we don't judge the activities of a musician by his post on social media.

Steve it be fun to catch up after 32 years.

GG Bone aka Gary Garbitini. GG had chops galore and loved Vinnie. Garry and Toss were buds at the time. The Toss open OC always had a vibe. Toss is one of my favorite cats! Toss had you and I drum tech for him, sort of, at the troubadour for the planet x gig? Doug RIP on bass. Toss had those splash cymbal things he was testing out. stacking two cymbals? They were like discs.

The spontaneous RUSH double drumming at MI at like 11pm that lasted for a few hours. Jeff was there as well to witness our pathetic attempt to play along to Neil's drum parts. It was a fun time when your in your mid 20's where one has access to a school 24/7 with drum sets lefty and righty but you can move the chain's (security of hardware being stolen) of the high hat over to the right just enough to have to righty set ups!
